Religious Mysticism, Mystical Experience, and Analytic Philosophy

The Humane Philosophy Society has the great pleasure to announce the 2026 summer conference on the theme of Religious Mysticism, Mystical Experience, and Analytic Philosophy.


The conference will take place in Sveti Kriz, Croatia 27.08.26–29.08.26 and will be followed by a two day closed workshop.


The conference is organized by The Faculty of Catholic Theology at the Ruhr-University Bochum, Germany; The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Warsaw, Poland; The Faculty of Philosophy at the University of Zagreb, Croatia; and Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, UK; with generous support from PRISM, the Templeton Religion Trust and Sveti Kriz Hotel.


Keynote speakers will include:


Professor Dr. Dr. Benedikt Paul Göcke, Faculty of Catholic Theology at the Ruhr-University Bochum, who will give a lecture “Mysticism in the thought of Karl Christian Friedrich Krause”;


Professor Stephen Priest, Blackfriars Hall, University of Oxford, who will give a lecture “Wittgenstein and Mysticism”;


Dr. Daniel Came, College of Arts Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Lincoln, who will give a lecture “Mysticism and Music”;


Lauren Kane, Managing Editor of the New York Review of Books, who will deliver the annual Arlyn Culwik Lecture on “Mysticism and Literature”.
