Value of the Humanities, Cambridge
From January 2016 the Humane Philosophy Project has dedicated funds to a research group on the value of the arts and humanities, aimed primarily at first year AHRC funded students at the University of Cambridge.
The group convenes fortnightly at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge, and discusses one text per meeting concerning the value of the arts and humanities.
Texts discussed have included John Henry Newman's The Idea of a University; Matthew Arnold's Culture and Anarchy and Richard Gombrich's 'British Higher Education Policy in the Last Twenty Years: The Murder of a Profession'.
Update: This series will continue throughout the academic year 2016-2017 with funding from the Cambridge AHRC DTP.
