Oxford Conference on The Self

On the 27th of September the Humane Philosophy Project held a day conference on the topic of the self. This event engaged with dominant physicalist and naturalist treatments of the self in the philosophy of mind and related disciplines, and examined alternative avenues. Invited speakers included:

Benedikt Paul Göcke (Ruhr-Universität Bochum)

Martín Grassi (University of Oxford)

Stephen Priest (University of Oxford)

Marija Selak (University of Zagreb)

Nicholas Waghorn (University of Oxford)

Ralph Weir (University of Cambridge)

The official title of this conference was 'Scientific Theology and the Self'. We are grateful to the Institute of Philosophy, University of Warsaw, the Ian Ramsey Centre for Science and Religion, University of Oxford, and the Emmy Noether Group at the Ruhr University Bochum for their generous support.

Videos of several of the talks can be found at the media page.
